Why can't the Response Device Wizard find the receiver on the correct COM port?

Solution 1 – the serial adapter software is missing or was installed incorrectly. If you are using a Keyspan adapter (USB to serial), then you must install the Keyspan software.

The Keyspan software is on the Keyspan CD in your TurningPoint kit, but can also be downloaded from the Keyspan Web site at www.keyspan.com. If your Keyspan adapter was connected during installation, then you must remove the software, disconnect the adapter, and install it again.

Solution 2 – You haven’t told TurningPoint you are using a serial to USB adapter or a serial port. To tell TurningPoint you are using an adpater, you must tick the box labelled ‘My receiver uses a serial port or serial to USB converter’ during the first step of the Response Device Wizard. Check to make sure the hardware is connected by unplugging the receiver and plugging it back in. Run the Response Device Wizard again.

Solution 3 – There is a clash with a serial adapter and another device such as a PDA. If you are using a PDA or other device, make sure it is not using the same COM port.
