Solution 1 – the handset batteries have become loose in transit – see ‘why is a keypad not working’.
Solution 2 – the receiver is not situated in the best place for optimum performance. Since the IR device uses infrared technology and line-of-sight communication, you should take the following considerations when siting the receiver.
When the receiver is connected, the participant has to simply press the number or letter on the keypad to send a response.
Solution 3 – Users are jamming the receiver by repeatedly pressing the button. If a user responds, and their response is not counted immediately, it is natural for them to want to press their response button repeatedly until they are counted. However, TurningPoint works much more efficiently with infrared hardware if users pause before trying their response again once more, and repeat the process with pauses included until they are counted.
