Questions about hardware

Why is a keypad not working?

Solution 1 – The user is pressing an invalid response. TurningPoint prevents you from submitting an invalid response, for example choosing option ‘5’ on a question with just two options. Try again with a valid response.

Solution 2 - The keypad's batteries may have become slightly loose, or may have run down. Press a button on the keypad. The light on the keypad blinks or does not light up if the batteries need to be replaced. Before replacing the batteries, check that they have not come loose. You can do this by opening the battery cover and lifting the battery contacts slightly.

Solution 3 – An RF keypad may be set to the wrong channel. To correct this, follow the steps below:

  • Check your reciever channel by clicking on the lightning bolt icon on the TurningPoint toolbar. Your channel (normally 41) should be displayed in the summary screen.
  • On the handset, log in to the correct channel. For example, to log in to channel 41:
    - press GO
    - then 4 then 1.
When you press GO, the LED should flash red and green to let you know it is waiting for a channel number.

Solution 4 - An IR keypad may not be correctly programmed, i.e. the label on the ResponseCard shows it to be number 27, but the ResponseCard has physically lost this identity. To correct this, follow the steps below:

  1. Hold down * and 6 on the keypad, until the LED goes solid red.
  2. Type in the number you want the keypad to become. For example, to reprogram the keypad to number 27, press 2 then 7.
  3. Press *. The LED should flash three times.

Solution 5 - The correct keypads may not be matched with the receiver, i.e. the settings for the range of ResponseCards are incorrect. Run the Response Device Wizard again to correct the settings.
